You loved the beach!!! That is all I can really say about you and the beach. You loved it!!!
From the moment we got to the beach until the moment we left you always wanted to be at the beach.
When we woke up in the morning you would ask for Isa and we would go to find her. It was then time for breakfast and then getting ready for the beach. Getting ready for the beach often took a little while as we had to pack everything, get changed, go potty and then of course actually get in the car. Once all of that was done we were off to the beach. We were generally there by 9:00 and you wanted to go right into the water. Daddy and I would unpack all the stuff and you would run off with Isa and an adult to go into the water. You just couldn't wait.
The first day you weren't tentative at all. You ran in and out of the water chasing the waves and then the waves chasing you. You screamed in delight the whole time. It made me smile and giggle. It was so obvious you were having so much fun. I loved watching you. You would take a bucket and fill it with water, dump it in the sand and then do it again and again and again. When I asked you what you were doing, you told me you were making a hole. You did this each time we were at the beach. You tried to jump over the wave sometimes being successful and other times not. Either way - you screamed and giggled through it. You tried to build a sandcastle a few times but were much more interested in digging a hole. Each day at the beach you dug at least one hole, often more than one. On the second day there, Uncle Steven dug a hole for you and Isa that you could sit in. From that day on you had to build a hole that you could sit in. Sometimes we would dig the whole to far away from the water and it would never fill up with water. Other times it would be to close and would continually fill up with sand each time the water came in. It didn't matter to you though, you just wanted to dig, sit in the whole, jump in the whole, and just splash around. You got so excited to see the water rush into the hole.
For the first few days you would only go in the water up to your knees on your own. Much deeper and you would hold our hands. By the last day there either your daddy or I would hold you and you would go much deeper with us. You were so brave. We would take you into the water until it was up to our knees. As the waves broke we would raise you up into the air and then after the rush of the wave went by us we would put you down into the wave as it went back out to the ocean. It would get you completely wet and sometimes splash up into your face. Other than getting your face wet, you loved it. You were nervous but kept asking to do it again. A few times when the waves were strong it made me a little nervous that it would take me and you both down.
You stayed with Isa most of the time. You raced back and forth with her, dug holes with her, filled buckets with her, jumped in the water, ate snacks, put sunscreen on, yelled, laughed, and did everything with her. Most of the time you shared well. The buckets were the things that you had the most trouble sharing. You always wanted the orange bucket, even when Isa wanted it. The pink princess thing also became a problem sometimes. You were patient though and tried to take turns. I was proud of how well you did. It was hard, I know.
We stayed at the beach for 3-4 hours each day. When you weren't playing you were having a snack. Snack time only lasted about 5 minutes though. You just wanted to be out in the water. When we would walk back to the car you almost always wanted to be carried because you were tired and the sand was hot. You learned how to walk and run on it though. So you put your shoes on and ran for it singing the whole way about how hot it was.
On Thursday we took our kite and also the bocci ball set to the beach. You wanted to jump right in and fly the kite. It wasn't quite windy enough so it was tough to get the kite up but your daddy did it. Once the kite was up you held on to it for a little bit and you loved it. The kite eventually came down - right into the ocean. We had to let it dry out before you could fly it again. While it was drying you decided to go play bocci ball with Aunt Courtney, Uncle Jay, Nata and Isa. You played and laughed with them for quite a bit. I watched you from the blankets and just smiles. I love watching you play. I love seeing you with Aunt Courtney and Uncle Jay. They will be great roll models for you.
We also took a few outings. One of those times you, Aiden, and I went out on our own and got ice cream. We went to TCBY and you got the biggest ice cream that you could. It was a sugar cone that had been dipped in chocolate topping and then coated with sprinkles. You got chocolate ice cream in it with more sprinkles. I got vanilla with sprinkles. You wanted mine - you said you didn't like the chocolate. Aiden also liked mine. I am not sure how much of my ice cream I actually ate. I did eat most of yours though. Other times when we want out it was everyone. We went into downtown Bethany a few times. Just walking on the boardwalk and stopping in the stores. When we were in one of the stores you wanted a stuffed purple/pink dolphin that was in a stuffed purple/pink. Isa was buying one too and you had to have a matching one. So we bought it. You have never played with it - including at the beach. Another time we were at the board walk we just walked in and out of stores and you ran around like a crazy girl. We bought you a t-shirt and a few other things. When we went out to Ocean City we started out as a whole crew but it ended up being you, Aiden, Daddy, Sue, Lysander, Jay, Courtney and me. We made it all the way out to the pier. It was windy and you said you were chilly so I carried you. As we were walking through the midway you wanted to play a game. Courtney paid for you to play the duck game. It was a game in which you win something no matter what. You picked three ducks and won a beach ball. You were so excited that you won. I don't think you knew it was rigged.
On Saturday when it was time to leave you wouldn't say good-bye to anyone. You just wanted to be held and snuggle. It was pretty cute. So I held you and snuggled with you and people hugged you while they were hugging me. On the way home, you did great. We gave you the GPS and you followed the GPS telling us where to go and when to turn. It kept you busy instead of asking are we there yet.
I just love you!!!
