You started Kinder-Kamp this week at the YMCA. We told you about it Sunday and you couldn't stop talking about it. You were so excited. We went to Walmart to let you pick out a backpack, you picked Minnie Mouse. Daddy and I tried to convince you to get the Tinker Bell one because you love Tinker Bell, but you wouldn't budge. So Minnie Mouse it was. You wore the bag all around Walmart. When we got home we packed your bag, picked out your outfit and your bathing suit. You were ready.
When you woke up in the morning you got dressed and ate breakfast faster than I had ever seen you get ready. You were ready by 7:45 and we didn't need to leave 8:45. I tried as hard as I could to distract you but you only had one thing on your mind. Kinder-Kamp.
Finally we left. We were on our way. It was at the same place as your swim lessons so you knew where to go. You told me where to turn and when we were there you showed me where the building is. We went in, you had your backpack on, and we followed the signs. You were a little nervous at first but quickly made friends. I stayed a few minutes to make sure that you were ok but really you were off and playing with your new friends. I gave you kisses, reminded you of the rules, and I was off.
I cried on the way out and on the way to the store. I even went to Panera to buy a chia tea because I was such a mess. I was hoping it would make me feel better...but nope. I wasn't sad at all. I was worried about many things. Would you make new friends, would you listen, would you miss me, would you cry, would you share, would you be ok swimming, would you remember to go potty, would you be able to get dressed on your own, would you get frustrated durin craft time and just scribble all over. But most of all - I was worried you wouldn't be ok and I wouldn't be there. All of these worries were unneeded. You did fine.
When I picked you up, you came right over to me. You were so happy. It was clear that you had a wonderful time!!! When I asked you about your day you were pretty silly and did a variety of silly thing. I did get some information out of you including that you had strawberry rainbow fish for snack. You told me how you colored, played and went swimming. Swimming was your favorite and you told me that you got in the safe way. You also let me know that you didn't like the swimming bracelet that they put on you..and that you had to wear it all week. You cried a little about it but by the time we got home you forgot about it and were talking about your friends. You didn't know any of your friends names but talked about them like they had been your friends forever.
I was just so proud. You are such a big girl. You are 3. You are going to camp. You are making friends. You are going swimming without me watching you. I am just so proud of you. You are an amazing little girl.
